Can you confirm that in December, the authorities in Burkina Faso sent a letter to the Quai d’Orsay demanding the departure of the French ambassador?
We did indeed receive such a letter from Burkina Faso’s transitional authorities.
This is not the usual procedure and we are not commenting on it publicly.
The opposition in Venezuela voted to dissolve Juan Guaidó’s interim government. What is France’s reaction?
As President Macron explained on November 11 at the Paris Peace Forum, where he was joined by his Argentinian and Colombian counterparts, France’s priority is to promote the negotiations being held in Mexico City between the Venezuelan government and the opposition. It is the only way to resolve the deep crisis in that country through the organization of free, democratic elections to be held in 2024, in the presence of international observers. France supports the democratic forces in Venezuela, who organize themselves as they see fit. It is not up to us to comment on their decisions in that regard.
